Dominika Hošková (born 17. 7. 1982) began to play the cello at the age of four under the guidance of her father, cellist and Associate Professor Jiří Hošek. She studied at the Prague Conservatory in Prof. Václav Jírovec's class and subsequently with prof. Vladan Kočí and privately with prof. Miloš Sádlo. As of 2003 she is studying at the Music Department of the Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) in Prague in Associate Professor Jiří Hošek's class. At the age of sixteen Dominika Hošková confirmed her mature talent in a demanding recital (Bach, Dvořák etc.). She achieved succcsses in a number of cello competitions: Heran Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí (1992, 1996), the International Competition in Linz, Austria. She gained a 1st degree certificate of merit at the Prague Junior Note competition in 1995. Based on an anonymous recording Dominika Hošková won a placing among the candidates of the Prague Spring 2000 International Cello Competition as the youngest .

Czech participant in the contest. The Czech Music Fund Foundation awarded her a scholarship (2000 - 2003), an endowment granted to the most successful students. In 2002 she garnered one of the main prizes in the All-State Conservatories Cello Competition in Teplice, North Bohemia. In the Karl Ditters competition, as a member of the Prague Conservatory Quartet, she gained 1st prize and a diploma „as the absolute winner of the competition“ (2003). In the 8th annual Bohuslav Martinů Foundation cello competition she was awarded 3rd prize (2003). Moreover, she was the absolute winner in the open competition for the „Yamaha Grant“ 2004. ln 2004 she also graduated from the Summer Academy Prag - Wien - Budapest in the Austrian Semmering (Prof. Csaba Onczay). As the only violoncellist from Prague Dominika Hošková participated in the David Popper International Violoncello Contest in Budapest. In 2004 she also joined the newly established piano trio Ester with whom she entered the Bohuslav Martinů competition in which the Ester Trio came second and also received the prize for the best rendering of a work by Bohuslav Martinů. Dominika Hošková has performed as a soloist with the B. Martinů Philharmonic, Zlín, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic, the Plzeň Philharmonic, the Virtuosi Pragenses as well as making appearances on Czech Television (Music Rendezvous, Terra Muzika, Advent concerts, Night with Angel). She has played at music festivals: Podblanik Autumn, Unconventional Žižkov Autumn, Synagogues in the West Bohemian Region, the Bohuslav Martinů Festival, concert for the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Foundation) - Berlin, Dresden Piano Salon, Talentinum 06 etc. In 2006 Dominika Hošková was nominated for the Premium Charter of the Czech Music Fund for the best young musicians. Dominika Hošková plays on a cello from Jakob Stainer's violin workshop.
